3 Things You Should Know about Instagram's Creator Profile
Instagram has recently launched their new Creator profile that was developed to give influencers a better and more efficient way to manage their accounts. This wasn’t surprising to us since Instagram sponsorships have become the primary advertising method, replacing print and even digital ads. So what do you need to know about this new feature? Here’s a few things that we thought were important:
1 . A Better DM Experience
Influencers are CONSTANTLY getting flooded with direct messages, making their inbox a HOT MESS. With the creator profile, influencers will be able to use filters that limit the types of people who can actually message them directly. Some filters include prioritizing messages from brands and friends, or ranking messages by time.
2. Better Insights
Historically, Influencers with a business profile had very limited resources that gave them true insights on their activity without using third party services. With a creator profile, Influencers are able to accurately measure followers growth, audience activity, reach, and engagement. Influencers will even have access to unfollow data which will help them see what’s working and what isn’t working for their audience.
3. Shoppable Posts
Like retailers, Influencers will now be able to tag products and have their audience purchase it directly from their account! The point of this new feature is to help streamline the shopping experience on Instagram. In a blog post about shoppable posts, Instagram wrote, “Today, creators tag the brands they are wearing, add details in the caption and respond to countless comments and DMs. With the ability to tag exactly what they’re wearing, creators can get back to expressing themselves and sharing what’s on their mind, which will make their followers happy too.” This particular feature is not available to all Influencers just yet, but is available to over 50 influencers including Kim Kardashian, Gigi Hadid, and Kylie Jenner.
As of now, the creator profile is only available to a certain number of influencers so we don’t have a ton of insight into how helpful it actually is. Will the creator profile really make a huge difference for influencers? Only time will tell.
